Biography

Bita Farrahi studied art at John Powers’ School in the United States. She worked as a professional model for art magazines in California, left the US in 1985, and returned to Iran. Her talent as an actress was noticed by director Darius Mehrjui. She began her acting career with Hamoun in 1989.

Bita Farahi, newly returned from the USA and unfamiliar with Iranian cinema, makes her debut in the film “Hamoon”. Despite lacking prior experience in cinema, her portrayal of “Mahshid” distinguishes her from other actresses, making her an instant star.

Farahi’s role as “Mahshid” in “Hamoon” garners critical acclaim, marking her as one of Iran’s most promising actresses. Her performance, pivotal to the film’s success, showcases her acting prowess and unique presence on screen.

1970

1999

In 199, Farahi takes on the role of Majidieh, a woman from the southern part of the city, in the film “Eteraf” directed by Masoud Kimiai. This role marks a departure from her previous portrayals and showcases her ability to tackle challenging and nuanced characters. Despite initial skepticism from filmmakers and critics regarding her suitability for such roles, Farahi’s performance in “Eteraf” proves her versatility as an actress.

In 2000, Farahi appears in “Khanei Roye Ab” directed by Bahman Farmanara, portraying Mrs. Taleghani, a nurse battling cancer. Her performance earns her a nomination for the Crystal Simorgh Award at the Fajr Film Festival, further solidifying her reputation as a skilled and respected actress.

Following a brief hiatus from cinema, Farahi returns to television with notable roles in series like “Velayat-e Eshgh”, “Sarzamin Sabz”, “Pedar Khak”, “Talism-e Shodegan”, and “Sarzamin Kohan”. Her presence in these series contributes to their lasting impact and popularity.
